Now I know how my parents felt!

Wow...the news of Michael Jacksons passing blew me away on Friday ! Now I know exactly how my parents felt when Elvis...the icon of their generation died in the seventies. I remember exactly the  details of that moment ..when the news broke of Elvis's death on the radio! It was shocking and sad and a hard concept to grasp for fans ...some who have to this day never been able to come to terms with his passing and still flock to Graceland today.I remember being with my parents as the all-night Elvis-a-Thon began.Hours and hours of endless Elvis albums played through the night in a kind of vigil of sorts. How ironic , that  I was with my kids when the news of the icon of my generation broke. My husband rushed into to our cottage after hearing on the radio that Michael Jackson the King Of Pop was dead....only hours earlier Farrah Fawcett...The Marilyn Monroe of the seventies, losing her fight with cancer. It was hard to believe that  the icon of the seventies ( Farrah) and the biggest artist of the eighties  were both gone in a single day. Gone to soon ..but forever earning their place in the pop culture history book of my generation. It was a sad day indeed.
